Recognition

The 2010 Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards benefiting Desert AIDS Project honored Mary Cone with the 100 Women Award and Steve Kaufer and Scott Van Dyke with the Partners for Life Award. Cone was a DAP board member in the earliest days of the organization; Kaufer served on the DAP board from 1987-1997 and rejoining the board in 2007; and Van Dyke has been an active DAP volunteer for many years.

Albert Frey, architect and former Palm Springs resident, has been honored with the 328th Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. Frey was a prolific architect who established a style of modem architecture centered around Palm Springs that came to be known as desert modernism. Significant buildings by Frey include his two private residences, the Loewy House, the 1952 Palm Springs City Hall, the Cree House II, the now-abandoned North Shore Yacht Club at Salton Sea, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Valley Station and the "flying wedge" canopy of the Tramway Gas Station now used as a visitor's center. Albert Frey died in 1998.

Lisa Stickley, director of marketing of American Leak Detection, was recognized as a Certified Franchise Executive by the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives.
