| Redwood County 4-Hers honored at awards program - Redwood Falls Gazette Posted: 10 Nov 2009 08:36 AM PST Redwood Falls, Minn. - A pair of tables full of hardware was handed out Nov. 1 at the Wabasso High School when members of the Redwood County 4-H program met for the annual awards celebration. The event is held each year to honor the youth from around the county who have demonstrated the essence of what 4-H is all about – head, heart, hands and health. In addition, a number of adults involved with the program were recognized for their service to the program. Adult leaders were honored from those who have been serving for the first time ot those who are veterans to the leadership role in Redwood County 4-H. Among the leaders recognized were Deb Bottelberghe, who has been serving in a leadership role for five years, Chris Turbes, who has been a leader for 10 years and Pat Buboltz who was recognized as having served for 13 years as a leader in the 4-H program. While 4-H members are honored for their efforts, there are also 4-Hers who are honored for their longevity in 4-H. A group of 4-Hers were honored who have graduated from the program. Those 4-Hers are Adam Carlson, Adam Chmelar, Ann Buboltz, Deanna Forry, Chelsie Gransee, Joshua Hook and Jennifer Plaetz. A number of 4-H members were also recognized for having been part fo the 4-H program for five years. Five-year members include: Erin Knorr, Christian Netzke, Haley Netzke, Emma Stavnes, Courtney Teveldal, Corbin Vogl and Payton Vold of the Lamberton Leprechauns; Maria Turbes and Logan Wagner of the Loyal Scotties; Dalton Ander-son, Hillary Kletscher, Amanda Kol-ander, Ashley Kolander and Kaitlyn Leach of the Milroy Go Getters; Cam-eron Castle, Tiffany Castle, Abigail Einck, Becca Einck, Melanie Foy and Alex Harmon of the Redwood Rainbows; Kortni Thul of the River Valley Wranglers; Nick-laus Ludwig of the Shooting Sports Club and Ryan Murray of the Vesta Vikings. The list of 4-Hers who have been involved with the program for 10 years includes Amanda Johnson and Alissa Tauer of the Golden Gophers; Brianna Matti-son of the Lamberton Leprech-auns; Cody Senger of the Loyal Scotties; Samantha Welu of the Milroy Go Getters; Michael Bottelberghe of the North Hero All Stars; Whitney Josephson and Kelsey Otto of the Red-wood Rainbows; Anna Marie Ludwig and Leif U'Ren of the Shooting Sports Club; Eric Car-ter and Joe Hook of the Springdale Climbers and Della Stage and Zachary Ourada of the Vesta Vikings.
Each year, 4-H members not only work on projects but they keep records of what they have learned. Those record are judged by volunteers who score them based on growth and development they have shown over the year. What follows is a list of those 4-H members who have demonstrated that kind of growth in one or more project areas. The Cloverbuds, for those youth in Grades K-3 who have not started 4-H but have done records, who were recognized include: Chad Maddock of the Golden Gophers; Gabrielle Houle and Catherine Turbes of the Loyal Scotties; Rachel An-derson, Victoria Cou-dron and Rachel Cou-dron of the Milroy Go Getters; Katie Bern-ardy and Matthew Baker of the North Hero All Stars; Jed Hansen of the Red-wood Rainbows; Jason Davis, Rachel Bredlau, Michael Turbes, Justin Bernardy and Amos Krause of the Vesta Vikings and Noah Net-zke, Thomas Netzke and Katelyn Rogotzke of the Lamberton Leprechauns. Those 4-Hers recognized for their records were: • From the Golden Gophers: Carl Ander-son in petroleum pow-er; Irene Anderson in clothing; Adam John-son in poultry and wood science; Amanda Johnson in poultry; Brittany Johnson in creative arts; Alissa Tauer in pets and rabbits; Lance Zeug in beef and wood science and Lauren Zeug in beef and clothing. • From the Lamber-ton Leprechauns: Chance Beranek in child development, photography and video; Erin Knorr is cats; Christian Netzke in beef and sheep; Haley Netzke in crop science, needlework, potatoes, rabbits and sheep; Paige Netzke in beef and sheep; Erica Rogotzke in clothing, foods and nutrition, photography and video and Courtney Teveldal in dog. • From the Loyal Scotties: Hannah Houle in clothing, creative arts, food and nutrition, leadership, needlework, performing arts, photography, video and wood science; Jordan Houle in food and nutrition, performing arts, vegetable gardening and wood science; Christopher Turbes in fruit; Maria Turbes in clothing and quilting; Stephen Tur-bes in crop science and Thomas Turbes in home environment. • From the Milroy Go Getters: Dalton Ander-son in aerospace, creative arts, geology and wood science; Dylan Anderson in aerospace, creative arts and wood science; Amanda Goblish in performing arts; Aman-da Kolander in food and nutrition and food preservation; Ashley Kolander in food and nutrition and food pres-ervation; Ryan Parker in food and nutrition; Amy Welu in food and nutrition and health; Jacob Welu in dairy, plant and soil science, wildlife and fisheries and Samantha Welu in cat, horse, photography, video and vet science. • From the North Hero All Stars: Nicole Baker in food and nutrition and indoor gardening; Samantha Baker in creative arts, food and nutrition, leadership, photography, video, quilting, self-determined and wood science; Michael Bottel-berghe in indoor gardening and poultry; Beth Danielowski in creative arts and entomology and Amelia Malmberg in creative arts, flower gardening, home environment and indoor gardening. • From the Red-wood Rainbows: Jac-lyn Dingels in leadership, performing arts and sheep; Scott Din-gels in robotics, sheep, swine and wood science; Bailey Hansen in child and family development, home environment, needlework, performing arts, photography and video; Kelsey Otto in food preservation and quilting and Talia Otto in creative arts, performing arts and quilting. • From the Shooting Sports Club: Anna Marie Ludwig in wildlife and fisheries; Nicklaus Ludwig in dog and Brian Swedzinski in wildlife and fisheries. • From the Spring-dale Climbers: Eric Carter in lawn and landscape; Cassandra Hook in beef, clothing and fashion review; Joe Hook in beef and self-determined; Sarita Hook in clothing and fashion review; Anna Johnson in swine, photography and video; Ben Johnson in swine, photography and video and Amy VanDorsten in child development, leadership, photography and video. • From the Vesta Vikings: Lindsey Bernardy in child development, creative arts and wood science; Amanda Lindstrom in creative arts and food and nutrition; LeAnna Lindstrom in dog, photography and video; Cassie Murray in clothing, dog and dog poster; Ryan Murray in electric, robotics, wild-life and fisheries; Della Stage in child development, clothing, dairy, fashion review, food and nutrition, photography and video and Denver Stage in child development, dairy and wood science. Each year clubs are also recognized for their accomplishments with bronze, silver or gold status. Bronze status was achieved by the North Hero All Stars, silver status was achieved by the Shooting Sports Club and the Vesta Vikings and gold status went to the Milroy Go Getters and the Redwood Rainbows. What follows is a list of some of the other special awards presented at the awards program: • The top reporter award was presented to Haley Netzke • The top secretary award was presented to Tamarah Frank of the Redwood Rain-bows. Sierra Wagner of the Loyal Scotties, LeAnna Lindstrom, Amelia Malmberg and Samantha Welu were also recognized. • The top treasurer award was presented to Adam Chmelar. • Dalton Anderson was recognized with the Young Achiever award. • Jaclyn Dingels and Kelsey Otto were presented the Key Award. • The Outstanding Demonstrator Award was presented to Kelsey Otto. • The Entomology Award was presented to Beth Danielowski. • Michael Bottel-berghe was named the Outstanding Poultry award winner. • The David Alcorn Swine Trophy was presented to Scott Dingels. • The Wood Science Award was presented to Scott Dingels • The David C. Deal Photography award was presented to Bail-ey Hansen. • Leif U'Ren was presented the Shooting Sports Award. • Adam Chmelar was presented the Soil and Water Conser-vation Service District Conservation Award. • The Dairy Achieve-ment Award was presented to Della Stage. • Haley Netzke was presented the Joe Zeug Memorial Field Crop Achievement Award. • Talia Otto was presented the Redwood County 4-H Dog Project Award. • Farmers Union Industries was named the Friend of 4-H. • Brady Welu of the Milroy Go Getters was named the 4-H Ambassador of the Year. The Greg and Laura Stage family was named the 4-H Family of the year.
