| Posted: 07 Nov 2009 04:01 AM PST Healthcare Coverage Fair set todayThe Healthcare Coverage Fair to assist families in accessing free and low-cost health programs and services is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Family Medicine Center, 1025 Pennock Place, in Pennock Plaza at Lemay and Riverside. Larimer County residents are invited to attend and learn about resources for increasing health-care coverage of children, pregnant women and others in the county who have little or no health insurance. Temporary Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus, or CHP+, cards will be issued to pregnant women and children who qualify for the programs. CHP+ is a Colorado public health insurance program for pregnant women and children whose families earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford private health insurance. People who attend the fair and intend to apply for health-care coverage are asked to bring a birth certificate; a passport or photo identification; Social Security numbers, if available; and the past month's paycheck stubs for all members of the household. Appointments may be made by calling (970) 495-8815 (English line) or (970) 498-6754 (Spanish). People may also walk in without an appointment. The fair is sponsored by CHP+, The Colorado Trust and Poudre Valley Hospital Foundation. Adoption agency to host eventAdoptions: Advocacy and Alternatives of Fort Collins will hold its first "Chairity Event" featuring 12 children's rocking chairs decorated by Fort Collins area artists that are on display in Fort Collins and Loveland. The hand-painted chairs are on display at the Loveland Art Museum, The Reader's Cove book store on Harmony, Ilene's Cookies on Timberline, Cool Beans behind REI on Mason, Timeless Creations on Prospect and College, and at the Clothes Pony and Essentials Spa in Old Town. The event is set to mark National Adoption Month in November. The chairs will be sold during an event from 7-9:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Center for Fine Arts Photography, 400 N. College Ave. The event will include a silent auction and a wine and appetizer reception followed by a live auction at 8 p.m. Admission is free, but limited to adults only. Stand-down for veterans plannedThe third annual Northern Colorado Veterans "stand-down" is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Catholic Charities - The Mission, 460 Linden Center Drive. The event is for any veteran in need, especially those who are homeless or may be at risk of becoming homeless. Free services provided will include a meal, clothing, basic dental services, flu and pneumonia shots, job placement help and assistance with Veterans Affairs programs. Organizations expected to be on site include Veterans Affairs, the Colorado Department of Labor, several Larimer County departments and various veteran associations.
